C/C++ Software Engineer

Linn make the world’s best music systems. Music makes life better, and we have been making the world’s best music systems for over 45 years. We are a global Scottish luxury brand, from our legendary turntables to our industry-leading network music players, everything’s designed, made and signed with pride in our custom-built facility just outside Glasgow.

At Linn, everyone makes a difference, so we’re committed to recruiting the best talent around. We’ve found that once people join Linn, they stick around. That’s because we’re passionate about developing our people and providing opportunities for everyone to learn and grow.

The Role:

We’re looking for an innovative, motivated Software Engineer to join the team. The successful candidate will be given ownership of the integration and control of our products within the Crestron home automation platform.

Traditionally this would be a full-time role based in our office on the outskirts of Glasgow. However, Linn are proud to offer an extremely flexible working environment. We are happy to consider whatever blend of office and home working fits best for you. We are committed to ensuring all our employees can find the best possible work/life balance.

If you joined our team, you would be working with a group of engineers who develop and maintain all the code used on our DS (Digital Streamer) range. This ranges from kernel configuration and device drivers to network protocols (HTTP, UPnP, many others), to audio pipeline, to on-board UI.

While we write and maintain much of our own code, we know we can't do it all. We also integrate a number of third party libraries, from kernel to security and codecs. As well as consuming open source libraries, we open much of our code.

This role will initially be focused on custom installation support for Crestron but there is scope to evolve the role to suit the right candidate.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • C and/or C++ experience in a commercial environment

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Enthusiasm for home automation
  • Crestron programming experience using Simpl/Simpl+
  • C++ experience including C++11 (and later) and STL
  • OO design and software architecture skills
  • Cross-platform development experience
  • Developing for real-time, embedded software applications
  • Multi-threading and concurrency
  • Experience in working with audio streaming
  • Interest in music
  • Build systems and automated testing
  • Agile development methodologies

In Return:

As well as a competitive salary and opportunities for career progression we also offer some fantastic benefits such as:

  • Flexible and home working
  • 32 days annual holidays
  • Holiday purchase scheme
  • Company pension
  • Life Assurance
  • Online GP
