Linn Labs

Here at Linn, we're always looking for new ways to make our DS platform even better.

We've recently been exploring ways to use the cloud to bring new features and services to Linn DS.

We're keen to let others see what we've come up with, so we're launching a new platform just for that purpose.

Welcome to Linn Labs.

Linn with Amazon Alexa

We've just released the Linn Smart Home skill for Amazon Alexa.

The Linn Smart Home skill brings voice to control your Linn network music players, allowing you to:

  • set volume,
  • control playback (play, pause, skip)
  • change source,
  • play pins (a new feature currently in beta)
  • set the standby state.

Find out more on the Linn Smart Home on the Amazon Alexa site.

Linn for IFTTT

We're launching Linn Labs with a new Linn Service for IFTTT.

IFTTT is a platform that allows you to get your apps and devices talking to each other.

We've developed a set of IFTTT actions that will allow you to configure your DS to play music, mute or turn itself off in response to any of many triggers available on IFTTT.

You can see a full list of the actions available on the Linn Service page on the IFTTT website.

Getting Started

To take advantage of any of the services we publish in Linn Labs, you need to connect your Linn DS to our new cloud platform.

1. Update your firmware

To connect to the cloud, your DS must be running Davaar 63 (or above).

Use Konfig to update your DS to the latest version of Davaar.

2. Get the latest Kazoo

The latest version of Kazoo includes tools for creating a Linn account and connecting your DS to the cloud.

3. Create a Linn account

In Kazoo, open the Settings window then navigate to the new Linn Labs section.

From here, you will be able to create a Linn account and connect your DS to the cloud.

Linn Labs is Experimental

The services and features we publish on Linn Labs are pre-release and subject to change.

We hope that everything we publish works well, but we don't guarantee it. If you want to participate, you should be willing to run into a glitch or two.

Help and support will come directly from the development teams writing the services we publish on Linn Labs.

We will shortly be launching a new platform for getting help and giving feedback - check back here soon!

Linn API

All of our Linn Labs services are built upon the new Linn API.

We'd be happy to grant API access to developers who want to develop apps or services that contribute to the Linn DS ecosystem.
