A Studio Master download is the highest quality music file available. It allows you to hear a recording exactly the way it left the studio, before it was altered to fit on a CD or squashed down to MP3 size. We can give you all the technical detail if you like but it’s really about the enjoyment of knowing you're listening to the original version of your favourite song.
Studio Master files are released at the same quality level at which they were recorded. It doesn’t get any better than that. That’s why we made systems capable of playing Studio Masters. If you want the numbers, they’re encoded at a bit depth of 24-bit or higher, and at a sample rate of up to 192 kHz — which gives you over six times the music data you get on a CD. But it’s not just about numbers, it’s about music. With Studio Masters you’re always getting the best.
If you want to play Studio Masters you'll need the right kind of music system and you might as well get the best. Linn DS systems have been specifically designed to play Studio Masters. A Linn will play all your digital music but there’s no disc drawer, no moving parts and nothing inside the box that doesn't contribute to great audio. Our record label was the first to release full-quality (or ‘lossless’) music without Digital Rights Management (DRM), because if you pay for music, you should be free to listen to it without constraint.
