Mobile Developer

Linn is a precision engineering company specialising in the design and manufacture of high end music systems. Our customers expect the very best when it comes to interacting and controlling their music system and they trust us to deliver. Increasingly, they are controlling their music systems using a mobile device – this is where you come in.

We are building our next generation of music systems and are seeking world-class software developers to help us create a brand new, market leading, UI to control them.

You will be joining a small but highly effective team, our core language is C#. We advocate agile practices; we practice continuous integration and we love adopting new tools and techniques to improve the quality of our software. We currently use Pivotal Tracker, GitHub, Xamarin, NUnit, MVVMCross, AppVeyor and Bitrise, however we expect our tools to change over time and we want you to tell us if we can do it better.

We are looking for someone who reads blogs and experiments with new technology. You don’t have to have used all the tools we use but we expect you to understand how things work. Most importantly, we expect you to demonstrate a passion for writing great software.

Ideally you will have good working knowledge of some, or all, of the following:

  • GitHub
  • Xamarin iOS/Xamarin Android

Web Application Developer

Linn runs a small, ambitious development team that writes software to support our products, our customers and our factory.

We’re enthusiastic adopters of tools and techniques that might help us write better code. We’re advocates of agile techniques: we develop our software incrementally; we write tests; we practice continuous integration and delivery.

We’re not keen on the tightly governed roles common in larger organisations – instead we aim for a collaborative environment where everyone plays a part in setting our technical direction: our architecture, tools, frameworks and practices.

We’re looking for a smart developer to come and join us.

You should already have experience building appealing and robust web applications. You’ve probably used some front-end frameworks along the way.

It would be handy if you’re comfortable with C# and JavaScript – both languages are core to our software stack. However, it’s more important that you’re well-versed in good software development practices: that you’re in the habit of writing tests; that you work hard to get your application architecture right; that you’re conversant with design patterns and use them to solve problems.

Whilst you may not have hands-on experience of all the tools we use here, you’ll be able to show us that you keep up-to-date with what’s out there. Perhaps you like to experiment with new technology. You definitely understand how things work.

Most of all, you will demonstrate a passion for writing great software.

If you’re interested and think you might fit the bill, please get in touch via recruitment@linn.co.uk.
